MVG CVN Kalari

A myth about the purported origins of Kalarippayattu narrates that the ancient warrior sage Parasurama learnt the martial art form from a god in the Hindu pantheon and taught it to the earliest dwellers of Kerala once he had raised the land from the ocean floor.

The legend goes on to credit him with the establishment of the earliest 108 Kalaris and the initiation of twenty one gurus. Passionate as we are about Kalari, it is this legend that has inspired us to name our Kalari eponymously.

Parasurama Kalari is our labour of love designed and constructed under the guidance of the CVN Kalari Sangham. Founded in 1956 by Sri.C.V. Narayanan Nair Gurukal, CVN Kalari is a pioneer offering training in the Northern style of Kalarippayattu in Southern Kerala.

Over six decades the institution has been a pioneer in the propagation of diverse schools of thought and pioneered practices in the evolution of traditional Kalarippayatttu.
